Julie Lumeng

As associate vice president for clinical and human subjects research, Julie Lumeng supports the clinical and human subjects participants portion of the research enterprise. Lumeng, professor of pediatrics and nutritional sciences, also serves as Associate Dean for Clinical Research at the Medical School and Executive Director of the Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research.

Professor Lumeng earned an M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School, and following clinical training in pediatrics and developmental-behavioral pediatrics, joined U-M as faculty in 2003. Her research focuses on the development of eating behavior in young children, particularly as it relates to psychosocial stress, parenting, and obesity risk.

Professor Lumeng previously served as the associate chair for research in pediatrics, and the director of the Center for Human Growth and Development.
